Mr. Burkhart was raised in Southern California and has lived in Northern California since 2004. He earned a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa and an MA in Educational Leadership from the California State University, San Bernardino.
Mr. Burkhart has served as an educational leader since the 2004-2005 academic year and as a superintendent since the 2007-2008 academic year. For most of his career, he served in the capacity of teacher/principal/superintendent. He has taught all grades from 1st-8th. He has served in districts in San Bernardino, Nevada, Butte, Tehama, and now Alpine Counties.
Mr. Burkhart lives in Markleeville with his two dogs. In his spare time, Mr. Burkhart is an avid reader of science fiction, enjoys painting, and has a love for England's narrow boats.
