For the last 24 years, Nicole Glentzer has worked as a school administrator, fiercely focused on meeting students' needs by ensuring that educators receive the training, resources, and  support needed to provide high-quality instruction and learning opportunities. Nicole was elected as the Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools and assumed office in January 2023. Nicole has embraced opportunities through the California County Superintendents to strengthen educational systems and ensure rural perspectives help shape legislation and policies that improve outcomes for all students. The passion that was sparked when she began her career as a paraprofessional burns brighter than ever.

After graduating from Sonoma State University with a bachelor's degree in Spanish, Nicole sought employment that would allow her to use her language skills but she didn’t have a clear career path. She took a job as a bilingual paraprofessional and, after a few joyful months of working with students, Nicole knew she would build a career in education. Along the way, she has worked in small and midsize districts ranging from 250 to 6,000 students. She’s been a teacher, coach, site administrator, and district administrator, bringing both practical classroom  knowledge and strategic leadership skills to her role as County Superintendent.

Among Nicole’s recognitions are the ACSA Ray Curry statewide award (2021), ACSA Human Resources Service Award (2019), and Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition-Inspiration Award (2010).  She currently serves as Chair of the California County Superintendents Audit Committee and Region 1 Legislative Committee representative.

As a new empty-nester, Nicole aspires to spend more time helping her husband with their hay and cattle operation. However, most of her “extra” time still finds her visiting schools and attending community events throughout Mendocino County.
